Poverty Reduction, Equity, and Growth Network Conference to Be Held in Dakar

On September 6-7, the 2012 Poverty Reduction, Equity, and Growth Network (PEGNet) Conference will be held in Dakar, Senegal. The conference will be hosted by the Partnership for Economic Policy in cooperation with the Consortium pour la Recherche Economique et Sociale (CRES).  The theme of this year's conference is "How to Make African Economic Lions: Tapping Africa's Growth and Poverty Reduction Potentials."

This two-day conference aims to encourage high-level dialogue among development researchers, practitioners, and policymakers.  Parallel sessions and project presentations will be complemented by debates, round-table sessions, and keynote speakers.  In addition to this year's theme, the wider parallel sessions and presentations will focus on PEGNet's core message of the interconnections between poverty, equity, and growth.

Additional organizers include the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW), the Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the OECD Development Centre and supported by the Senegalese Government, the KfW Development Bank, and the Courant Poverty Research Centre at the University of Göttingen.
