Webinar on Near-Real-Time Monitoring of Food Crisis Risk - May 8, 9am EDT

Dear colleagues,

The current world health crisis further highlights the importance of accurate, near-real-time monitoring of food crisis risk factors. A number of research efforts on effective monitoring systems exist around the world, including the use of satellite data to monitor production-related information and climate change-driven weather events and various methods to monitor food price volatility.

We invite you to join IFPRI's Food Security Portal on May 8 at 9am EDT for a webinar on existing and potential future food crisis risk monitoring efforts. The event will highlight priority research and policy questions, identify gaps in existing monitoring efforts, and pinpoint opportunities for collaboration to inform policy. We invite researchers, policy makers, and other stakeholders interested in this topic to attend this virtual event in order increase collaboration among research teams and expand the scope and reach of food crisis risk monitoring efforts.

The webinar set-up is as follows:

Moderator: Rob Vos, Director, Markets, Trade and Institutions Division, IFPRI
Panelists:

  • Arif Husain (WFP VAM and linked to IPC)
  • Laura Glaeser (FEWS NET)
