On June 23, a meeting of the Network Advisory Committee was held at the IFPRI-Dakar office in Senegal. NAC members met to discuss ongoing and future network activities, as well as to review the progress made so far on target goals.
The meeting was hosted by Dr. Ismael Fofana, the AGRODEP network coordinator, and attended by 10 additional NAC members and AGRODEP staff (Michael Waithaka, Willis Oluoch-Kosura, Muhammadou M. O. Kah, Mbaye Yade, Ousmane Badiane, Miriam Omolo, Isaac Joseph Minde, Harold Roy-Macauley, Alimatou Diop, and Freddie Kaggwa Kalibwani).
The meeting addressed an overview of AGRODEP, a review of the NAC membership and Terms of Reference, and a discussion of the 2011 Membership Activity Report (MAR). The AGRODEP 2012 interim workplan was presented and the activities of the network component, including training and grant activities, were discussed. The meeting also resulted in an agreement to revise the NAC ToR. The revised ToR is forthcoming. (View the meeting materials.) The meeting also welcomed Harold Roy-Macauley as the new NAC Co-Chair and representative for West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF-WECARD)
The NAC is a consultative group of individuals representing key African institutions that are active in the area of economic growth and policy research and capacity building. The Committee provides advice to the Consortium on the content and delivery of networking activities. The Committee is co-chaired by the representatives of the Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in East and Central Africa (ASARECA) and the West and Central African Council on Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF/WECARD).
