Albert Makochekanwa is a citizen of  Zimbabwe. He has been an AGRODEP member since  October 2010. At present, Albert the Chaiperson of the Department of Economics, University of Zimbabwe. Previously, Albert worked as a Trade Analyst  at the  USAID Southern Africa Trade Hub.  In that position, he conducted research, analysis, and provided policy advice on non-tariff barriers and intra-regional trade in the SADC region. He is also involved in strengthening the capacity of the SADC Secretariat to effectively implement and monitor the implementation of the SADC Free Trade Area as well as increase regional economic integration. Albert also worked at the  Commonwealth Secretariat's Hub and Spokes Project, Conningarth Economists,  University of Pretoria, Competition and Tariff Commission, Zimbabwe,and University of Zimbabwe. He holds a B.A. degree in Economics from University of Pretroia, an M.A. in Economics from University of Zimbabwe, and  a Ph.D. Economics from University of Pretoria, South Africa. His research interests include international trade, regional trade integration, monetary economics, agriculture and food security, and climate change.
