Gender Disparities in Africa’s Labor Market

Available evidence shows that in a number of African countries, women are less likely to be in paid jobs, they are disproportionately concentrated in informal and precarious employment, and they are paid less.  This report sheds light on the multiple dimensions of the gender disadvantage in Africa’s labor markets and the way these dimensions tend to interact with and reinforce each other.
