Call for Papers: 2nd Annual Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) Regional Conference

Theme: A gendered approach to unlocking the potential for sustainable development
June 2019

The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis, invites researchers, policy makers, academics and other stakeholders to submit proposals for papers to be presented at the 2nd Annual Regional Conference.

The conference will focus on gendered approaches to unlocking the potential for sustainable development. The goal of this conference is to stimulate a deeper understanding of how gender inclusion can promote the attainment of sustainable development and shared prosperity for all. In the event that one segment of gender is excluded at the expense of the other, then the pace and pattern of sustainable development is impaired.

Based on these background, conference papers will address the following themes, as they are perceived to be critical in unlocking the potential for sustainable development:

• Gender and health
• Gender and education
• Gender and food production/ food security
• Gender and entrepreneurship
• Gender and housing provision
• Gender and trade
• Gender wage gap and unpaid work
• Gender and leadership
• Gender and policy, legal, institutional and administrative frameworks

The emphasis of the conference will be on high quality research on the above motivated theme, with a clear balance between theory and practice, and policy relevance of the research findings. We especially encourage practitioners including policymakers, researchers and other stakeholders as well as academics to submit papers.
