2014 Training Course - Poverty Measurement and Analysis

This course aims to provide hands-on training in applied poverty analysis. Lecture material will be supplemented with empirical exercises that are designed to illustrate some of the points made and improve your skills in data analysis, using both Stata and Excel.

2014 Award for Excellence in Publication

AGRODEP is pleased to announce the AGRODEP Award for Excellence in Publication. The objective of this initiative is to provide an incentive for, and to reward excellent publications by AGRODEP members in top ranking academic journals.

This initiative will increase members’ visibility both within and outside of Africa and contribute to AGRODEP’s overall policy impact.  


2014 Grants for Research Valorization

AGRODEP continues to accept applications for its 2014 Grants for Research Valorization. These grants are available to all AGRODEP members and provide financial assistance for members to present research at international conferences and pay publication submission fees. Grants may also be awarded for members to attend trainings outside of AGRODEP in certain cases. All proposals for financial assistance for research valorization will be approved on a case-by-case basis, and research must be clearly linked to AGRODEP activities.
 

2014 Training Courses

The courses were selected based on results from the 2013 and 2014 training course surveys; in these surveys, members were given a list of proposed courses and asked to select their top three based on which would be most useful for their research and professional development. 


2014 Seed Fund Grants

After each AGRODEP course, participants are eligible to apply for a Seed Fund Grant. These grants are used to fund research related to the course. Proposals are evaluated by the course instructor(s) and the AGRODEP management team. A maximum of two proposals are selected from each course.

The AGRODEP team is pleased to announce its list of training courses for 2013. The courses were selected through a member survey conducted in November 2012; in this survey, members were given a list of proposed courses and asked to select their top three based on which would be most useful for their research and professional development. A total of 76 members participated in the survey and selected eight courses.


2013 Training Course - Impact Evaluation and Analysis of Development Interventions II

Overview

Over the course of the past ten years, the number of impact evaluations related to development interventions has increased substantially. In fact, under the leadership of leading academic institutions in the US and Europe, empirical studies based on robust comparisons of treatment and control groups have received considerable financial support from the donor community and led to dozens of publications in leading academic journals in the areas of agriculture, education and health.

2013 Members' Workshop

The third annual AGRODEP Members' Workshop will be held in Dakar, Senegal from November 19 through November 20, 2013. Twenty-one invited AGRODEP members will give presentations covering a wide variety of African-focused research topics. Members will have the opportunity to receive feedback from experts and interact with the AGRODEP network.

 

2013 Training Course - Applied Microeconometrics

Overview

This course will provide participants an extensive range of up-to-date statistical and econometric techniques to analyze microeconomic data. In particular, a wide variety of microeconometric methods available in Stata will be covered, including linear regression, instrumental-variables estimation, nonlinear models for binary, multinomial, and censored models, estimation of average treatment effects, simulation and bootstrapping, and duration analysis. Special emphasis will be placed on the rationale of the models, the implementation of the methods and the interpretation of the results using multiple examples. Overall, the course aims to help participants analyze microeconomic data by applying different econometric techniques using a popular specialized software.
